Many years ago, in the height of the first British computer boom I can fondly remember riding the metro into haymarket and heading for Fenwicks' computer department (it was on a mezzanine level next the the bainbridges' flying saucer and boots. I think they have handbags there now. But back then it was geek heaven with dragons, orics and of course the zx81. We would gather and programme the tried honoured

pretty much like the gothlings and punkins that gather less than a hundred feet away in old eldon square today we had a place to go
now the apple store has revived that shame they're punting Californian apples instead of cambridge acorns
A few Saturdays ago, I was in South Shields shopping. On King Street, the main shopping street is South Shields, has been pedestrianised for years.
A panda car passed me and parked about half way down the street. A police officer left the car and went into the 02 shop. This is most irregular; I thought that there was bother in the O2 shop necessitating a police presence.
Partly being nosy and partly because I wanted to look for a new phone; I went in the shop. Inside the copper was just sitting with one of the assistants.
On leaving the shop I noticed that the police car was one of those Astras with a Panoramic windscreen. This is an optional extra that comes at a premium.
For an extra £850, the Panoramic screen is available as an option on the Astra Sport Hatch range.
However on these police cars they've painted this extra bit of windscreen white and on that painted the car number.
I vaguely remember reading about Scotland winning the bid for 2014 Commonwealth Games but it barely registered.
But last night I saw this fabulous sketch from the excellent Absolutely series:
Then today I saw something on the news about the Scotland bid and the line from the comedy sketch about the Commonwealth Games being a joke, really resonanted with me.
I am really glad they got it and I don't really think the Games are a Joke.
There has been a lot in the press recently about banning smoking when driving
Which regardless of your opinion on the matter begs the following questions:
Will it make your car last longer?
Will less cars be sold?
A sad loss to the world of music, passed on Friday night.
